COVID-19 ILLNESS RESPONSE

  • Any individual who tests positive for COVID-19 must report that diagnosis to the appropriate campus director and remain absent from school for the duration of the medically advised plan of their treating physician (at least 10 days).
  • Contact tracing will be performed according to Mobile County Health Department guidelines. CHCA administration will follow the directives of local health officials to determine steps to be taken following any diagnosis.
  • When administration is made aware of a COVID-19 diagnosis, affected families will be notified by administration. Students who stay home due to potential exposure will receive excused absences.
  • We will take every step to mitigate the transmission of COVID-19 but understand that the risks cannot be fully eliminated.
  • Current guidance from health officials states that as long as the wearing of face coverings is universal, the student who is in close contact with the ill student does not have to begin an isolation period.
  • Individuals who must isolate due to close contact may get tested 3-5 days after last contact. If negative, that individual does NOT need to stay in isolation. However, if positive, that individual must begin a new 10-day isolation.

Attendance Policy

wbw
  • Students in isolation should participate via One Note every day. One Note will be used regularly as a classroom information resource. Teachers will post assignments weekly for students to reference and stay up-to-date with coursework.
  • No perfect attendance will be awarded for the 2021 - 2022 academic year to take away the pressure of being at school if one is sick.
  • Students in isolation will receive an excused absence.
  • Students with extenuating circumstances such as illness expanding beyond two weeks will be addressed on a case by case basis by the campus administrator.

Food Services

wbw

CHCA Food Services have completed return-to-service courses and are prepared to meet our unique food service needs.

  • Grades K2-K5 will eat in classrooms and will be able to order food from our Food Services department.
  • Grades 1-8 will eat in the lunchroom due to the ability to safely distance within the large space.
  • Grades 9 -12 will eat in the dining hall and designated outdoor locations to allow the ability to safely distance.

Water Fountains

All students are encouraged to bring a personal water bottle to school each day. Water fountains and the use of the bottle filler will be available for students.

Emotional, Social, and Spiritual Health

As educators, we are concerned about the emotional, social, and spiritual health of our students. Research tells us that events such as a pandemic can cause adolescents to struggle with many socio-emotional concerns. Students and families are encouraged to communicate concerns with our administration and teachers. We are here to help offer guidance and support!
