Theater Arts

Middle and High School students enrolled in Theatre Arts will learn the basic techniques of stage drama, vocal techniques, stage combat, theatre history, costuming, stage designs, an many other forms of theatre education. 

Cottage Hill Christian Academy Theatre Art students participate in the AISA Drama Festival in November and State Drama Festival in January which are both located in Montgomery, Alabama. CHCA has won numerous AISA Drama Festival Awards with students also being selected to receive the AISA Drama All-State Festival Awards. 

Each spring, the CHCA Theatre Arts Department presents an annual Broadway Production Dinner Theatre that involves students from 1st-12th grade. Auditions are held each November follows by a casting of approximately 80 students. 

The Solid Rock Jazz Band plays during the dining hour to create a fabulous atmosphere for the Broadway production show. Immediately following the show, the entire cast will have their pictures made with the patrons/children in the atrium.

Announcements will be coming in October regarding the 2020 Broadway Production Dinner Theatre Show.

Middle School Theatre Arts

6th – 8th grade students are provided an opportunity to showcase the talents and abilities that God has given them. Drama students participate in two major plays during the year: Christmas and Spring Broadway Productions. 

The course of study includes improvisation, pantomime, diction, history of drama, singing techniques, production, costume design as well as many other areas of dramatic presentation.

High School Theatre Arts
This introduction to acting for high-school students includes basic body movement, pantomime, improvisation, theatrical vocabulary and history. This course also emphasizes dramatic productions, choreography, singing, set design and props as well as costumes.  The student will participate in  CHCA Christmas  Magnificent Production and the Spring Broadway production may also perform for community organizations.
