In line with our mission and vision at Cottage Hill Christian Academy, our goal is to teach students to LOVE WHERE WE LIVE, as we seek to develop servant leaders who will change their world for Christ. As a Christ-centered school, it is our desire to teach students that our community establishes and cultivates an environment of cultural, economic, and racial diversity. We believe that God’s Word provides clear instruction for how, as Christ-followers, we are to LOVE ONE ANOTHER.
And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.
This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”
Matthew 22:37-39
Using Matthew 22:37-39 we teach students to:
LOVE GOD
•With their heart
•With their soul
•With their mind
LOVE THEIR NEIGHBORS AS THEMSELVES
- Definition of Neighbor:
- Peers, teachers, families
- Our communities: locally, nationally, globally
- Using the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) as a guide, we teach students to:
- recognize those who are in need
- recognize that all people are created in the image of God
- pray for opportunities to become servant leaders
- be grateful for what we have and generous with our gifts, times, and talents
- Chapel Small Groups
- Students are placed in diverse peer and faculty groups to discuss Biblical concepts, chapel lessons, and relevant issues.
- Love Where You Live Projects
- Students and grades K2-12 participate in annual "LWYL" service projects throughout our community.
- Students interact in different aspects of our community and provide needed services to those in need, all while earning the importance of service leadership and gaining a different perspective of their local community.
- Curriculum Driven Discussions
- Curriculum is chosen by a committee of teachers and administrators to best present conversations for the understanding of diverse cultures and experiences taught from a Biblical worldview. Literature is selected by staff to teach empathy, respect, and camaraderie.
- Cultural Studies Elective
- Offered in our High School, students learn and discuss different cultures and experiences from a Biblical worldview.
- Service Awards
- The Robert "Robbie" Clifton, III Servant's Heart Award is awarded annually to the Elementary (1-5) and Middle School (6-8) student who exhibits a servant's heart in their interactions with their peers, teachers, school and the local community.
