The University of Southern Mississippi, English B.A.

Cottage Hill Christian Academy alumna

High school at Cottage Hill was a fantastic experience. When I experienced the typical middle school to high school growing pains, the Cottage Hill family was quick to accept me with caring teachers who constantly prayed for me and friendly peers. I was challenged and encouraged daily with my scholastic endeavours and faith. Cottage Hill beautifully combines Christianity and education.

After Cottage Hill, I entered the dramatic, dynamic college world at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. While taking a full course load of 18+ hours, I was part of the leadership team at the Baptist Student Union and was a resident assistant on campus. Through hard work, scholarships, and by His grace, I was able to graduate debt free in 3 and a half years, cum laude and thank the Lord-ay!

After graduation, John Michael Nyeste, my high school sweetheart, proposed. To which I emphatically agreed! We're now living out our happily ever after and thinking about getting a puppy. Or a hedgehog. Or a sugar glider....

I'm blessed to return to Cottage Hill to teach and to learn. I have a heart for students to love learning and to love God.

When I became a teacher, this verse has been an encouragement and a challenge: "Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly." James 3:1

I willingly chose this path, to give my daily life so that students can learn.

It's great to be a Cottage Hill Warrior!
