I graduated from the United States Military Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree.  In 1974 I completed a Master of Science in Operations Research degree at Georgia Tech.  I have also completed work at the University of New Hampshire, George Mason University, and McNeese State University. 


I served as an Infantry officer in the United States Army for 20 years.  Following my retirement from the Army, I taught high school physics and mathematics at DeRidder High School, DeRidder, Louisiana for 10 years, followed by 17 years teaching math at Murphy High School and Aerospace Technology at BC Rain High School in Mobile, Alabama.


I grew up in Brandon, Mississippi and graduated from Brandon High School. I attend Cottage Hill Baptist Church. I enjoy riding my bicycle, backpacking, and working out in the gym. I also teach a night math class at the University of South Alabama.
